Hasanov said that demands relating to the media also apply to online media.
“Since they act as a journalist during the election process and enter polling stations with a journalist card, they bear journalistic responsibility,” the top official said. “If a blogger writes something on his page, that’s another thing. But when 3-5 people gather together on a website, this is media. For this reason, issues relating to the online media must be added to the Election Code.”
Addressing the seminar, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said that conducting a pre-election campaign in online media is not reflected in the country’s legislation.
Panahov said Azerbaijani citizens, who are active on social networks, must continue to be active about these issues too.
