Baku hosts an official reception on the 71st anniversary of Indonesian independence

The event was attended by Indonesian ambassador to Azerbaijan Husnan Bey Fananie, Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Valeh Alasgarov, MP’s, diplomatic corps, and public and media representatives.

At the beginning of the reception, national anthems of both countries sounded.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia noted that the relations between our countries are based on more distant past despite the fact that the Indonesian embassy in Azerbaijan has started its activities in 2010.

“The numbers of mutual visits are more than forty. Indonesia unilaterally abolished the visa regime for tourists from Azerbaijan. Our economic cooperation is developing. Indonesia is the largest partner of Azerbaijan after Germany and Italy. However, this does not reflect the existing potential. I believe, this will develop under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan”, ambassador said.

Speaking at the event, vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Valeh Alesgerov stressed in his turn bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Indonesia in various fields, including inter-parliamentary relations satisfactory.

“Azerbaijan and Indonesia mutually support each others within international organizations such as the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. I am confident that this cooperation will continue in the future. I am grateful to the Republic of Indonesia for their support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”, the Deputy Speaker said.

The event went on demonstration of the Indonesian national dance examples.
