MP: No reason for holding rally in Azerbaijan
There is no reason for holding a rally in Azerbaijan, Bakhtiyar Aliyev, Azerbaijani MP, told Trend Sept. 13.
The MP was commenting on a 2500-person rally that was held in Baku on Sept. 11. The event was attended by representatives of various parties of the National Council, the opposition and non-governmental organizations. The rally was agreed with the executive power of the city.

"If anyone just shares an opinion, this is not a rally,” he added. “As for a protest made by anyone in connection with the referendum in Azerbaijan, I do not see any reason for this issue because these are processes which are being carried out for the development of the statehood, the future of people and the entire Azerbaijani society supports these processes.”

“So, I do not think that clear-minded people will protest against this,” Aliyev said. “Everyone must support these actions.”

Aliyev stressed that some people instructed by the pro-Armenian forces, centers and diasporas in the US and other countries are expressing certain views against Azerbaijan.

"Of course, there are people in Azerbaijan who have fallen under the influence of these forces," Aliyev said.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to hold a referendum on amending the country’s constitution September 26, 2016.
