Literacy level in Azerbaijan close to 100 percent – president
The level of literacy in Azerbaijan is close to 100 percent, said the country’s President Ilham Aliyev.
The president told the aforesaid at the opening ceremony of a new building of school No. 311 in Sabunchu district, Baku on Sept. 15.

More than three thousand schools have been built or overhauled in Azerbaijan over the past ten years, President Aliyev mentioned

“However, there are still schools that are in disrepair. They will also be reconstructed, and I believe that in the coming years there will be no damaged school in the country,” he added.

The head of state noted that these works require large funds.

“Azerbaijan is a strong state, and social, educational fields are priority for us. Therefore, we are providing the necessary financial resources to achieve these goals,” said Ilham Aliyev.

Education is the future of each state, according to the president.

“We are proud that the level of literacy in Azerbaijan is close to 100 percent. We should do our outmost for all children to be educated very well and to become worthy citizens of our state,” said President Aliyev.

“Serious reforms on education are underway in Azerbaijan. Teachers’ salaries are raised to stimulate them. Of course, the value of each school depends on its indicators. Each school should try to ensure that the quality of education is high,” he added.
