At least 12 officers have been injured in protests over a police-involved killing of an African-American in the southeastern US city of Charlotte, North Carolina, local police said Wednesday.

The CMPD said in a statement quoted by local media Tuesday that one of its officers shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott, 43, during searches on an outstanding warrant. The department said Scott was armed and "posed an imminent deadly threat to the officers."
