About 700 educational institutions destroyed in Azerbaijan as result of Karabakh conflict
About 700 educational institutions have been destroyed in Azerbaijan as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said Azerbaijan’s Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov.
He made the remarks at the round table on “The Importance of preserving human capital in terms of mass movement of people as a basis for sustainable development” held within the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum Sep.30.

The minister noted that the Armenian military continues violating the ceasefire with Azerbaijan and shelling of schools on the frontline.

He recalled that Azerbaijani schoolboy Fariz Badalov was killed by a sniper shot from the Armenian side in 2011.

The minister added that the tuition fee of Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs are paid by the state.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Salim Muslimov pointed out that 12-13% the Azerbaijani population are refugees and IDPs.

The minister added that in Azerbaijan more than 90,000 people receive pensions and more than 10,000 families targeted social assistance in the country.

The 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum kicked off at the Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku on Sep.29.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the official opening ceremony of the forum.

The Baku International Humanitarian Forum was initiated in 2010 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and former Russian President, current Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.
