Azerbaijan did great job by overcoming IDP problem - Russian president’s envoy
Azerbaijan has done a great job by overcoming the problem of more than a million refugees and IDPs, said Russian president`s special envoy for international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy.
He made the remarks addressing the round table on “The Importance of Preserving the Human Capital in Conditions of Mass Migration as a Basis for Sustainable Development” held within the framework of the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum Sept. 30.

“We’re seeing a successful experience here in terms of settling problems of the IDPs,” he said.

Shvydkoy noted that there is no problem in Azerbaijan about the intercivilizational issue.

“There are currently 65 million refugees and IDPs worldwide. This number is incredible,” said the presidential envoy. “The migrants should integrate into and receive education in the countries where they inhabit. What has been taking place in Germany is being criticized. Nevertheless, Germany has certain models of migrants’ integration into society. There can be no question of human capital without social programs.”

“From this point of view, today’s economy is the economy of science and knowledge. We need knowledgeable people. In case the migrants are not involved in the employment process, nothing good will happen. Sometimes the migrants are meant to do the ‘black’ work. But they need to be involved in the real labor market,” he added.

The 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum kicked off at the Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku on Sep.29.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the official opening ceremony of the forum.

The Baku International Humanitarian Forum was initiated in 2010 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and former Russian President, current Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.
