Baku hosts opening of first exhibition as part of `History of monotheistic religions` project
The first exhibition opened in Baku Sept. 30 as part of the project titled “History of monotheistic religions”.
A ceremony for opening the exhibition was organized by Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations within the framework of the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Present at the ceremony were State Adviser on Multinational, Multicultural and Religious Affairs Kamal Abdullayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, Executive Director of Baku International Multiculturalism Centre Azad Mamadov, Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center of the U.S. Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Deputy Director General of UNESCO Getachew Engida, President of the Conference of the Imams of France Hassen Chalghoumi, Imam of King Fahad Mosque in Los Angeles Mohammed Khan, MP Asim Mollazade, Deputy Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Rashad Aliyarli, as well as senators and other high-ranking foreign officials who are in Azerbaijan to take part in the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Delivering a speech at the event, Gurbanli said that the exhibition titled “People, book, land: The 3,500-year relationship of the Jewish people with the Holy lands” is of educational character.

The committee chairman said that examples dating back to the 3,500-year history of this Jewish people and their ethnography are on display at the exhibition.

He praised the organization of such an exhibition in Azerbaijan, a model to other countries for its multicultural and tolerant values, noting that the exhibition is best example of tolerance in Azerbaijan.

Speaker at the event noted that the joint exhibition of UNESCO and the Simon Wiesenthal Center organized as part of the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum is a landmark event.
