Almost 90 refugees arrive on Greek island of Chios in past 24 hours
A total of 88 refugees arrived on the Greek island of Chios in the Aegean Sea over the past 24 hours, bringing a total of number of refugees sheltered on the island to over 4,100, local Kathimerini newspaper reported Wednesday.
The newspaper said, citing the local authorities, that no new arrivals were recorded on the Aegean islands of Lesbos and Samos over the past 24 hours.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 302,975 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea in 2016 through October 1, arriving mostly in Greece and Italy.

Europe is struggling to find a solution to a massive refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Frontex detected over 1.83 million illegal border crossings in 2015, in contrast to some 283,000 in 2014.
