Obama declares state of emergency in Georgia state as Matthew moves closer
Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency in the state of Georgia.
US President Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency in the state of Georgia as Hurricane Matthew is approaching.

Earlier on Thursday, Obama signed an emergency declaration for the state of South Carolina. A state of emergency is also in effect in Florida.

Hurricane Matthew, the most damaging storm to hit the Caribbean in a decade, is expected to hit Florida on Thursday night as a category 4 storm.
