Parliamentary elections are being held in Georgia Oct. 8. There are 150 seats in the country’s legislative body. Members of the parliament (MP) are elected for a term of four years. Elections are held on a mixed electoral system – 77 people are elected on party lists (on the proportional system), 73 MPs – on single-seat electoral districts (on the majority system).
This is the first parliamentary elections after the entry into force of constitutional amendments that limit the president`s rights and extend the powers of the prime minister and parliament.
