French president answers Azerbaijani MP’s question in PACE
The French model of secularism allows everyone to live in peace, to ensure freedom of religion and freedom of expression for all religious denominations, said France President Francois Hollande.
The president made the remarks in the Q&A session held within the framework of the plenary meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) autumn session on Tuesday.

Asked by Sevinj Fataliyeva, a member of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE, whether the failure of the idea of multiculturalism caused the spread of terrorism in Europe, Hollande, noted that the French model of secularism enables peaceful coexistence of representatives of all religions.

“Every citizen should enjoy the right to religious freedom in full. However, it shouldn’t affect his/her lifestyle of social life. That is, the law must prevail over religious traditions and rules. In a word we are not going to avoid our rules. The principle of secularism is very essential in France,” added the president.
