Cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO is about much more than modernizing the armed forces, it focuses on defence reform, good governance and democratic institution building, the press service added.
“These are long-term efforts that will greatly benefit Azerbaijan, and NATO stands ready to continue assisting Azerbaijan in these efforts,” the Alliance said.
Azerbaijan has made progress in cooperation with NATO, but a lot of work remains to be done, NATO press service added.
The Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation is realized as part of the Partnership for Peace program.
The NATO press service also said Hungary’s Embassy in Azerbaijan will be the next NATO Contact Point Embassy starting from January 1, 2017.
Earlier, Romanian embassy was successfully fulfilling the tasks of NATO Contact Point Embassy in Azerbaijan.
