Greek Prime Minister warns against Racist treatment of refugees
"We’re not afraid to talk about the past and about the struggles that this past commands today. For the modern fight against fascism and so that the world never forgets the overwhelming experience of the Holocaust. And so that refugees do not become the new object of racist propaganda," Tsipras said, as quoted by the Greek news agency ANA-MPA.
Tsipras also said that Greece had been unable for years to truly celebrate the liberation as it was closely followed by the events that led to the 1946-49 civil war, where the communist insurgents clashed with the government forces and were eventually defeated by them.
