At the briefing held after the CSTO session in Yerevan, Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan stated that the CSTO partners supported the agreements reached at the Vienna and Saint Petersburg summits in the current year, which aimed at preventing the escalation of situation in the conflict zone, stabilizing the situation and creating conditions for advancing the peaceful process.
“The session confirmed the need for the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, supporting the OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts towards resolving the conflict on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, the UN Charter provisions and Helsinki Final Act, specifically with respect to the non-use of force and threat to use force, territorial integrity of a state,” Sargsyan noted.
