Police officers staged a demonstration near the old port in Marseille around midnight local time (22:00 GMT on Tuesday). They parked about 40 cars in the pedestrian zone, and stood facing the sea demonstrating support for the wounded officer. After half an hour they quietly ended the protest, the TV channel reported.
According to reports, the protest was spontaneous and was not organized by a trade union.
On October 8, a violent clash between police officers and a group of 15 young people occurred in the southern suburbs of Paris, an officer received serious burns of body surface and was put in coma. On Tuesday, about 500 police officers staged a protest in Paris on the Champs-Elysees. The officers were protesting deteriorating work conditions and demonstrating support for their injured colleague. Police officers were driving their cars along the main Paris boulevard with their sirens turned on.
