Azerbaijan may export up to 700 million MW through Georgia
The minister added that work is being carried out to connect the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran.
“Technical and political situation for the project’s implementation is satisfying,” he said, adding that the emergence of a new market, electricity transit and swap with other countries are among the advantages of the project.
Electricity will be exported from Russia to Azerbaijan and further to Iran via the North-South energy corridor.
The connecting of the three countries’ energy systems will create an opportunity to expand export and import operations. Azerbaijan will strengthen its positions as an exporter and transit country.
A memorandum of understanding on electricity swap was signed between Iran and Azerbaijan in December 2015.
