Ukraine will continue to support Azerbaijan’s position in int’l arena - Poroshenko
Ukraine favors the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and will continue to support Azerbaijan’s just position in the international arena, President Petro Poroshenko said.

Ukraine’s president made the remarks during the talks with newly-appointed Azerbaijani ambassador to the country Azer Khudiyev, Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Ukraine told on Thursday.

Speaking about the historic friendly relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the president wished the ambassador success in his activities aimed at the development of multi-faceted relations between the countries.

Poroshenko expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for backing Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in the UN Security Council.

Recalling with satisfaction his official visit to Azerbaijan in July this year, the Ukrainian president noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, socio-economic projects are being implemented not only in Azerbaijan but also in the region.

Poroshenko stressed the importance of fulfilling the agreements achieved at the meetings of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan and 11th session of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. T

Ukraine is keen to develop economic and trade relations with Azerbaijan, the president said emphasizing the need to create joint ventures in these areas.

Poroshenko also extended heartfelt congratulations to the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence.

Ambassador Azer Khudiyev, in turn, thanked the Ukrainian president for his sincere congratulations, pledging that he will spare no efforts for further development of friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine that are internationally known as strategic partners.
