Azerbaijan not to switch to winter time tonight
Azerbaijan will not switch to winter time this year.
Note that according to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan signed on March 17, 1997 on “Upon the application of daylight saving time in the Azerbaijan Republic”, every last Sunday of March clocks are turned forward one hour. Summer daylight saving time is abolished by turning clocks back an hour. The State Agency for Standardization Metrology and Patents was controlling the fulfilment of the decision.

According to decision #131 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 17.03.2016, switching to daylight-saving time on March 27, 2016 has been abolished.

Taking into account that the switching to winter and summer time in the country causes medical-psychological and socio-moral problems and several difficulties from synchronization of ICT systems, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Presidium has suggested to abolish switching to winter and summer time basing on GMT+4.
