`Inferno` fails to ignite box office, leaving `Madea` on top - VIDEO
"Boo: a Madea Halloween" surprised Hollywood analysts by scoring a second weekend in a row on top at the box office.
The film racked up an estimated $17 million in sales this weekend. But the help provided by star Tom Hanks wasn`t enough to push Inferno to the top. The third film in the "Da Vinci Code" franchise took in only $15 million during its opening weekend, about $10 million less than expected... and nearly 70-percent less than the second film in the franchise did during its opening weekend.
"Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" dropped to third in only its second weekend, delivering an estimated $9.5 million.
Meanwhile, "The Accountant" came in fourth with an estimated $8.5 million. And "Ouija: Origin of Evil" rounded out the top five, taking in an estimated $7 million.
