Paraguay’s Chamber of Deputies adopts statement on 25th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence
The Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Paraguay’s National Congress has adopted a statement titled “The 25th anniversary of the second declaration on independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted by the Supreme Council on 18 October 1991”.
The statement was adopted on the initiative of Juan Ramirez, head of the Azerbaijani-Paraguayan interparliamentary friendship group, Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Argentina told AzVision.az.

Presenting a draft statement, Ramirez noted that the 25-year-old republic established by the Azerbaijani people that are part of the Caucasus and of great importance for humanity is politically and economically independent.

He stressed that freedom of religion is respected in Azerbaijan, a Muslim-majority country that was the first country in the Islamic ever to enfranchise women.

The lawmaker said Azerbaijan takes an active part in high-level international events, adding that work is underway to improve the humanitarian sector in the country in accordance with the strategy of converting oil capital into human capital.

The draft statement, signed by Ramirez and two other members of the friendship group – Víctor Oscar González Drakeford and Celso Maldonado, was adopted unanimously.

The document says that Azerbaijan gained high reputation on the international arena and takes an active part in high-level international events including summits, forums, and exhibitions.

It is also emphasized that Azerbaijan has achieved significant progress in the development of the energy sector and has been carrying out a series of reforms in all sectors of the economy since the beginning of the post-oil era.
