“The ‘humanitarian pauses’ were repeatedly declared. It has been two weeks that neither Russian nor Syrian air forces operate in Aleppo. But each time, extremists use these ‘humanitarian pauses’ to replenish their forces and weapons arsenal,” Lavrov said during his meeting with the Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos.
The Jabhat al-Nusra group controls the eastern Aleppo, there are armed groups under its subordination, said Lavrov.
“They hold innocent civilians as hostages,” he added.
“We continue putting efforts together with Americans, representatives of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, and we are looking for the opportunities to resolve this crisis,” said Lavrov.
