3 dead, over 20 wounded in clashes amid local elections in Peru
Three people died and over 20 were injured in clashes triggered by mayoral elections in Peru, local media report.
Supporters and opponents of Curimana mayor Loiber Rocha Pinedo reelection clashed on Wednesday, governor of Ucayali Region Manuel Gambini told RPP Noticias. Meanwhile head of Ucayali Police, Col. Jorge Luis Saravia, told the radio station on Wednesday that the wounded include 17 policemen. In May 2016, the Ucayali judicial authorities ordered to arrest Loiber over allegations of taking advantage of his office and illegal conspiracy.
