This date change will also see its release arrive one week after Ridley Scott`s Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant which will see Michael Fassbender play not one but two robots.
Long-gestating Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower is also getting pushed back to the summer. Reportedly, there`s a worry that the film`s special effects load won`t be ready in time due to the film`s modest budget compared with its Marvel competitors.
An incomplete trailer for the film, which stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain AKA The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as the malevolent Man In Black, was released last month. The film, originally slated for a February 2017 release date, will now arrive in cinemas 28 July.
This was the date formerly held by Sony`s big-budget Jumanji continuation - headed up by Dwayne `The Rock` Johnson, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan - but that`ll now be getting a Christmas release of 22 December.
In case you were wondering, The Equalizer 2 - Denzel Washington`s first ever sequel - will be released two weeks earlier following its move from 29 September to 14 September.
