The Iranian Foreign Ministry says Tehran favors and is fervidly following up a case of visa waiver with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“I hope that regarding the nature of mutual relations a visa waiver can be achieved,” Qassemi said, adding that it can be achieved through a step-by-step process.
“The first step, which is being arranged, is for the two sides to ease the requirements. After that, they will lift the visa requirement for special groups, and then it would be generalized,” he said.
The spokesman added that Iran is pursuing the same agenda with Russia.
“We have waived visa with a number of countries already. Generally, we do not have any problem with visa waiver and are ready to improve the range of countries with which we remove the visa requirements,” Qassemi said.
