He noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev was the first to put forward an initiative in Nakhchivan to restore the tricolor flag as a state symbol.
“The decision made at the session of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on 17 November 1990 to restore the tricolor flag of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic and adopt is as the national flag of the autonomous republic is one of the most glorious pages in the history of Azerbaijan’s independence,” added Suleymanov.
Addressing the event, Ali Huseynli, chairman of the parliamentary Committee on legal policy and state building, spoke about the importance of two holidays – National Flag Day and Constitution Day which are celebrated in November.
He pointed out that the order on the establishment of National Flag Day in Azerbaijan, signed by President Ilham Aliyev, who worthily continues the political course of successful political course of national leader Heydar Aliyev, is of great importance in terms of educating youth in the spirit of patriotism.
