One person shot during anti-Trump protest in Portland - police
One person was shot during a protest against US President-elect Donald Trump in Portland, Oregon, local police said Saturday.
According to the Portland Police Department, the suspect in the shooting in a young African-American man.

"Police investigating shooting on Morrison Bridge. One person down. Everyone needs to leave the area immediately," Portland police said on its Twitter account.

The shooting took place on the western part of the Morrison Bridge in Portland.

Protests in Portland have been going on since Wednesday when Republican Party nominee Donald Trump emerged as the winner in the US presidential election, triumphing over the Democratic Party candidate Hillary Candidate who was considered a favorite by many pollsters and analysts.

The Portland Police Department classified the protests as a riot and an unlawful assembly after vandalism and extensive damage to property occurred.

Portland police detained at least 29 individuals in the early hours of Friday. On Tuesday, Trump secured 290 Electoral College votes of the 270 votes required to win the presidency.
