New Aleppo ceasefire possible if UN arranges aid supplies, civilian evacuation
A new provisional ceasefire is possible in the embattled Syrian city of Aleppo at any time if the UN steps up efforts to secure the delivery of aid supplies and the evacuation of civilians, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The ministry’s spokesman Gen Igor Konashenkov has called previous attempts by the UN to negotiate with militants “just words.”

He added that escape routes set up by the Syrian military over the past weeks were subject to militants’ shelling and small arms fire. Militants have also planted landmines on city streets, which makes any humanitarian operation in the area almost impossible to carry out.
