"If the citizens say ‘no’ and decide to keep the old, unworkable system, I will not be negotiating with other parties to form a technical government without a stable parliament majority," Renzi told the Rtl 102.5 radio. "But I am sure this will not happen because the ‘yes’ vote will win."
Renzi added Italy had been ruled by a "technical" government several times in the past, which only led to tax hikes. A government of technocrats is formed of experts without the backing of any political parties.
