According to the news agency, citing Afghan security officials, local Daesh leader Mullah Bozorg was killed along with seven militants in the drone strike, which was carried out late on Friday in Kot district of the northern Nangarhar province.
A number of weapons ammunition, and explosives belonging to the local Daesh supporters were reportedly destroyed by the strike.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with Taliban insurgents and other extremist factions such as Daesh, outlawed in Russia and many other countries, taking advantage of the instability in the country.

One of the senior commanders of the Daesh militant group was killed in eastern Afghanistan as a result of an airstrike carried out by a US drone, local Khaama Press Agency reported on Saturday.
