Over 600 rebels reportedly launch attacks in Myanmar region bordering China
Three rebel groups in Myanmar’s northern Shan state reportedly banded together to form a 600-strong force that attacked security forces early on Sunday.
Dhaka Tribune cited the state councilor’s office as saying that the three groups had used heavy weapons to assault the towns of Muse, Monekoe, Phangsai, and Manken, before retreating in the face of a counter-attack.

Two civilians were reportedly killed by gunshots and six others were injured during the clashes.

The renewed hostilities put the efforts of Myanmar’s first elected government to strike a peace deal with the rebels in peril.
