Baku hosts meeting of CIS Council on Youth Affairs
A meeting of the CIS Council on Youth Affairs kicked off in Baku Nov. 22.
In his opening remarks, Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov said the meeting to be held in Baku Nov. 22-23 is an anniversary event.

Stressing the importance of the event, the minister said youth activities are being carried out at a high level in Azerbaijan.

Rahimov noted that Azerbaijan’s youth policy is an example to the world

“Our main goal is to further strengthen our relations with CIS countries, establish friendly relations among young people and jointly implement various projects,” he added.

The Council on Youth Affairs was created in order to implement the agreement signed in 2005 on youth affairs among CIS countries. The Council includes two authorized representatives on youth affairs from each member states. The Council holds meetings not less than twice a year. In April 2016, the Council passed a decision in Minsk to hold its next meeting in Baku. The meeting is dedicated to the CIS’ 25th anniversary.

Members of the Council from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan are attending the meeting.

The meeting’s agenda includes discussion of 14 issues and adoption of several documents.
