Clinton popular vote lead over Trump surpasses 2 million
As Hillary Clinton’s lead in the popular vote over Donald Trump surpassed 2 million Wednesday, calls from Democrats grew to put election results under a magnifying glass in states the President-elect narrowly won.
A movement called “audit the vote” — with the help of a handful of celebrities — is asking the feds to check vote totals in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania and to make sure the voting machines used in those states Nov. 8 were functioning properly.

A petition posted to Change.org had received 166,000 signatures. The petition, launched by a nonprofit group called Verified Voting Foundation, raises questions over whether Russian hackers “interfered” with the election.

Jill Stein, the Green Party’s presidential candidate, plans to file for recounts in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. By early Thursday, she was about $250,000 short of her $2.5 million goal to fund the effort.
