Yanukovich says he never rejected idea of European integration for Ukraine
Former President Viktor Yanukovich has said he had never rejected the idea of European integration for Ukraine.
“We hadn’t changed our decision, we just delayed it,” he said, adding that had been seeking a variant of an association agreement with the EU that would meet Ukraine’s interests, prior to the events that led to him being ousted from power in 2014.

Yanukovich was speaking on Monday at Rostov’s district court in southern Russia, answering questions during a video conference about the events in Maidan in 2014 from Kiev’s Svyatoshinsky district court.

He also said that the February 2014 shooting in Kiev’s central Independence Square was “a planned operation geared to topple the legitimate authorities,” TASS reported.
