`I couldn`t gather my intestines` - Witness of April fights - VIDEO

Jalal Rahimov, a resident of the Garaghaji village of Terter district, IDP from Armenian-occupied Aghdam district of Azerbaijan got seriously wounded on April 2 when the Armenian Armed Forces shelled the Azerbaijani settlements.

The Armenian shell fell near his car on the first day of the April fights. His nephew, 23-years-old Orkhan Rahimov died from strike wounds on the first day of the April fights.

Jelal Rahimov, a Karabakh war veteran underwent 5 serious surgeries and will have another surgery in a few days.

AzVision`s correspondents visited him in Baku.

Rahimov talked about the difficulties he faced during the April fights in his interview to AzVision.az: `Armenians opened fire at the civilians in the early hours of the morning. I tried to take my family out of the house. All of a sudden, one of the shells fell down near us. At that time, I was sitting back a driving seat waiting for my family. Before that, I asked my family members to bring the children to the car on the phone. Fortunately, they had not brought kids when I asked. Otherwise, the shell would fall into the car and children would die.

`Unfortunately, my nephew, Rahimov Orkhan was shelled by Armenians and died from strike wounds while opening the door to get in the car. It is the most miserable thing ever. He was only son of my brother. You cannot imagine his parents’ grievance. His parents cannot get a grasp of themselves`, he said in his interview.

`I only remember the moment when I touched my stomach; I saw my all intestines coming out. I could not gather my intestines. I could not walk and fall down. The shrapnel entered from the left back and exited through the right back. It was resulted in a big circular hole in the lower right abdomen. Furthermore, it splintered the bone on my right foot. As a result, my toes do not function. In addition, the shrapnel entered from the left side of my right knee and exited from the right side. Besides, the shrapnel splintered my blind gut together with some bone in the lower left abdomen. That’s why I have a problem with walking. Normally, you have bone in the lower right abdomen but the shrapnel wholly splintered the bone there. I lost sight in my right eye after the shrapnel wound. The doctors were not able to save my right eye. I also lost my fingers.

That day, I lost consciousness and lost some of my intestines. I was taken to the Terter District Hospital. Then I was transferred to the Barda Diagnostics Center. My surgery lasted for 8 hours and doctors were able to connect my intestines with 12 stitches. Then I continued my treatment in Baku. I am under the control of doctors. I have stayed in the hospital since April 2. I almost lost half of my intestines. Thanks to my doctors, I am alive. I cannot believe my eyes that I am alive`, he said.

`We have experienced many difficulties. I have two daughters-in-law. They have sold their jewelries and household goods for my treatments without my knowing. Furthermore, my wife did not leave me alone during this period. She stayed with me in the hospitals. I feel bad. I think I have caused trouble for my family`, he added.
