`Azerbaijan cannot remain indifferent to Muslims killing one another`
Azerbaijan cannot remain indifferent to Muslims killing one another in Muslim countries, said President Ilham Aliyev.

The president made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian People who attended an international conference titled “Traditions of religious tolerance in the Caucasus and Azerbaijan`s model of multiculturalism.”

“I think our practical work and our official statements have to be a good example to all. We are not only strengthening solidarity within our ties in the Caucasus region, but also Azerbaijan is doing huge work for the solidarity of Muslims worldwide,” said President Aliyev.

“We are proud that Nakhchivan will be the second Azerbaijani city after Baku to be given the title “Cultural capital of the Islamic world” by ISESCO in 2018. This is indicative of respect for our work,” said the president.

Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan takes an active part in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which held a summit this year.

“The summit expressed support for Azerbaijan’s great role in Islamic solidarity,” he said, adding. “Also, world Muslims condemned the Armenian aggression in April of this year and created a contact group for the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”
