Miners reportedly trapped after coal gas blast in Central China
An explosion of coal gas has trapped 11 workers in a mine in the central Chinese province of Hubei, local authorities said Tuesday.
The government sources told the Chinese news agency Xinhua that an operation was underway at the Xinjia Coal Mine in Badong County to rescue the miners.

This is the recent incident in a string of mine-related incidents after four mine explosions killed dozens across the country in less than three months. Gas detonated in late September at a mine in northwest China`s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region killing at least 18 people.

Another blast in the central Chinese region of Chongqing in early November claimed 33 lives, while two explosions near the cities of Chifeng and Qitaihe left at least 38 dead last week.
