Los Angeles boosts security in subway system due to terrorist threat from abroad
The US city of Los Angeles, California increased security throughout its subway system Tuesday in response to a threatened terrorist act, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced.
On Monday, an English-speaking male in another country phoned in an unspecified threat against the Los Angeles County Metro Rail’s Universal City station, the Los Angeles Times cited Deirdre Fike, assistant director in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s local office, as saying.

"Stepped-up security presence at Metro stations today out of an abundance of caution," Garcetti posted on his Twitter account.
