Karabakh conflict among ‘Yandex top searches of 2016’
Russia’s leading internet search engine Yandex has analyzed queries and search terms and named the major events and developments of 2016 for Russians, Interfax reported.
The Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh is among the most popular searches for Russians in the ‘events category’ for 2016.

The most popular searches in the `events category` also include the elections in Russia and the US, swine flu and Zika virus, doping scandal, child-killing babysitter in Moscow, a plane crash in Rostov, as well as the Yarovaya package and the “Without confusion” exhibition of Jock Sturges’ photos of naked children.

On the night of April 2, 2016, all the frontier positions of Azerbaijan were subjected to heavy fire from the Armenian side, which used large-caliber weapons, mortars and grenade launchers. Azerbaijan responded with a counter-attack, which led to liberation of several strategic heights and settlements.
