Second US police officer dies from injuries from shootout in state of Georgia
A second police officer died on Thursday from gunshot wounds sustained in a shootout earlier in the week in the US state of Georgia, according to media reports.
Georgia Southwestern State University police officer Jody Smith died from his gunshot wounds, WSB TV reported on Thursday.

Ryan Smarr, 25, of the Americus Police Department was the first officer killed in the shootout. Smarr and Smith were responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex when they exchanged gunfire with a suspect who had warrants out for his arrest for kidnapping and other charges. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the suspect, Minquell Kennedy Lembrick, was found dead also on Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot.
