“United Russian-Armenian military group causes no problem for Azerbaijan”
The establishment of a united group of Russian and Armenian troops causes no problem for Azerbaijan, Alexei Pushkov, chairman of Russia`s Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, told on Monday.

Armenia is a military ally of Russia and is bordered by a NATO member country, Pushkov said, noting that the establishment of the united Russian-Armenian military group in the conditions of allied relations is completely logical.

“The question is that whether the establishment of this military group causes problem for Azerbaijan. In my opinion, it doesn’t create any problems, because Azerbaijan is Russia’s closest strategic partner,” he added.

According to him, Russia’s intention to expand its influence in the region can not be directed against Azerbaijan.

“Moscow is in compliance with a balance of relations with Baku and Yerevan. I think Moscow does not disrupt and will never disrupt this balance,” Pushkov said.

“Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Russia,” he said, adding. “At the same time, Russia cooperates with Armenia within both the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. I think Baku is well aware of this aspect. I have been in Azerbaijan several times and met with the country’s leadership. I don’t see anything in Russia`s policy that can cause concern of Azerbaijan.”
