Kiev court sanctions Ukraine ex-President Yanukovich’s detention
A court in Kiev has authorized the detention of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich, RIA Novosti reported Thursday, citing a statement of Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko on Facebook.
He said the Pechersky court held a hearing behind closed doors at the request of military prosecutors. It ruled to detain Yanukovich for him to take part in the hearings on his arrest in Ukraine, according to Lutsenko.

Yanukovich, who lives in Russia, said at Moscow’s Dorogomilovsky court on Thursday that the 2014 state coup had sparked a civil war in Ukraine.
