Earlier, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said the criterion of need increased by 10.5 percent compared to the preliminary expectations.
Azerbaijan switched to a targeted social assistance system in 2006. The amount of the targeted social assistance is set based on difference between the criterion of need and the income per family member.
The families whose income per person is below this criterion receive the targeted social assistance. The criterion of need was set at 105 manats in 2016.
(1.7525 manats = $1 on Dec. 16)
