Azerbaijan, Turkey to use national currency in trade - minister
Azerbaijan and Turkey have not negotiated on using national currency in trade. However, this issue may be discussed in the future, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev said.
In turn, Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said that Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents gave relevant tasks to the economic bodies: “Azerbaijan and Turkey should bestow privileges on each other. If needed, these privileges should be reduced to zero. Currently, our trade turnover makes up about $3.5 billion, and this figure must be increased to $10-15 billion. In the first half of 2017, Azerbaijan-Turkey business summit is planned to be held. In this summit, a relevant document will be signed. Our main policy is to use national currency in trade. There can be no question of coercion. However, we must ways to use national currency in trade”.

The Turkish minister added that taking into account the structure of trade turnover, full use of national currency is not an objective lying ahead.
