The sides held an extensive exchange of views on the draft Convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status.
They underlined the importance of reaching agreement on the open issues with regard to the draft Convention prior to a meeting to be held at the level of foreign ministers as preparation for the next summit of heads of Caspian states.
The participants also emphasized the need to intensify joint efforts for the effective conduct of the next meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group for the development of the Convention on Caspian Sea’s legal status at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
At the meeting held in the spirit of good-neighborly and friendly relations between the two countries, it was noted that the bilateral consultations on the Caspian Sea’s legal status promote convergence of positions and coordination of the remaining issues.
