Danish police arrest daughter of South Korea’s ‘Rasputin’
The 20-year-old daughter of Choi Soon-Sil, dubbed South Korea’s “Rasputin” for her alleged involvement in a corruption and influence-peddling scandal, has been arrested in Denmark, AFP reported.
The young woman, Chung Yoo-Ra, was reportedly in hiding for months before being arrested for overstaying her visa. Prosecutors are now in talks with Danish authorities to have her deported to Seoul.

Back in South Korea, it is suspected that Chung was admitted to elite Seoul university through her mother’s influence at the expense of other candidates with better qualifications. Choi is said to be a secret confidante of South Korea’s now impeached President Park Geun-Hye. She is accused of using her ties with Park to advance her personal financial interests and meddle in state affairs. The South Korean parliament voted to impeach Park due to the scandal in mid-December, and the case is now being considered by the country’s constitutional court.
