France now bans plastic bags for fruit or vegetables
French authorities have banned carrier bags that are made of PE and PVC from Paris’ food markets in favour of compostable bags that possess a vegetable origin.
Traders can now only use bags made from compostable raw materials. This can range from bioplastics to paper or cotton.

Novamont and the Barbier Group will be providing more than three million carrier bags made of the bioplastic Mater-Bi. The material is biodegradable and compostable in conjunction with standards NF EN 13432 and NF T 51-800.
