Armenian artist appreciates `Baku Peace Platform ` - INTERVIEW
Henrik Khatchatourian is an artist who held art exhibitions in most countries and currently lives in the USA (Hollywood, Los Angeles). He left Armenia because of social and economic problems. He considers Sargsyan as an ordinary criminal.

`I highly appreciate “Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Platform”, Henrik Khatchatourian said in his interview to AzVision.az.

- Could you please give information about yourself? What is your occupation in the USA?

-My ancestors have lived in the left bank of Araz River of Ararat Valley (Aghri Valley-red.) since 1828. They came there from the Salmas valley of Xoy region of Iran. I was born on November 6, 1954 in Yerevan.

I have studied Cybernetics at the Polytechnic University for 3 years after graduating secondary school. I left university and went into the army at age 21. I joined the `National Secret Group` after demobilization. I was sent to Stepanakert (Khankendi-red.) in accordance with a special task in 1984. There, I realized that most of this kind of institutions was either organized or controlled by Special Services. Consequently, I suspend my contacts with them. I decided not to get involved in politics.

I published `Ayros` Avant-garde journal, 32 page lined `Aysor-32` newspaper and `Fon-Fon` weekly newspaper with satirical addition of 2 weeks from 1990 to 1997.

I was invited to the USA in 1999 to attend an exhibition. I had to stay there for some reasons. Currently, I am busy with art.

I have been a participant and organizer of several personal exhibitions, as well as the exhibitions in California, South America (Colombia, Bolivia), Europe (Paris, Berlin) and Russia (Moscow). I live in Hollywood district of Los Angeles with my wife and two daughters. My daughters are students.

- Your views on the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia are interesting. How do you evaluate the existing situation between the two countries? What can you say about `Armenia- Azerbaijan Platform for Peace`?

- I have always been against the restoration and rehabilitation of old systems. I perceive the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan as consequence of efforts by superpowers to restore their hegemony through fake `revolutions` and local wars.

It goes without saying that both nations are exposed to a big disaster and misfortune as a result of the conflict. In my view, each intelligent person must condemn the conflicts in our planet.
When it comes to the Peace Platform, it is early to speak about the results of the peace initiatives that are still incomplete. For that reason, peace supporters from both countries must be in constant communication. However, the initiatives of the Platform must be highly appreciated.

I am aware of Vahe Avetian`s (Armenian human rights defender) stance and experience. I agree with his major statements.

- Are you happy with the current policy pursued by Sargsyan regime in Armenia?

- Serzh Sargsyan has been one of the personal agents of Levon Ter Petrosyan the former President of Armenia, known for his corrupt government in 1996. He is the successor and supporter of Khocaryan, who has adversely hurt sovereignty of Armenia.

I am especially against 30-year criminal oligarch regime in Armenia. Sargsyan is one of the most active mobsman among the government officials. Should he stand before a just court of any region of Armenia, he might be sentenced at least to life imprisonment. Serj Sargsyan is a criminal villain.

- In fact, the Sargsyan regime is afraid of the Peace Platform. What is the reason?

- Sagsyan is not the only person who is afraid of the Platform. The global bank systems and global military-industrial institutions have special expectations and deep interests in the resolution of the conflicts in the countries in the same category with Armenia and Azerbaijan. Turkey and Iran, the slightly more important countries of the region haven`t got enough power against such systems. Both nations have strong will, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a hard nut to crack.

I am a realist. However, there can be miracles when you believe. The minds will change and geopolitical problems will find their solutions.

Although the establishment of the Peace Platform was expectable, it is a phenomenon in its early stage. I want to note again that this process makes me glad enough.
