VP of PACE: `Azerbaijan is land of my heart` - EXCLUSIVE
As reported before People`s Deputy of the People`s Front Party and a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Georgiy Logvinskiy announced his election as the Vice-President of the Assembly on his Facebook post. Logvinskiy is from Goychay, Azerbaijan.

Responding to AzVision.az questions Georgi Logvinskiy spoke about Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

- As we know you are originally from Goychay. What does Goychay mean to you?

Yes, my father is from Goychay. He school there. He knows Azerbaijani and Russian languages. He moved to Kiev, Ukraine in 1946.

- Have you been to Goychay?

- I have been to Baku for a few times. My friend, Sabir Hajiyev is a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He elected from Goychay. Sabir Hajiyev arranged a tour for me to visit my parents` hometown. Unfortunately, I could not attend the tour. However, I will visit Goychay this year or in the near future.

- Or would you like to live in your father`s hometown in the future?

- As you know, I am a member of the parliament of Ukraine. I was also elected as VP of the PACE. My job is to protect my country-Ukraine in such a difficult situation. I represent Crimean Turks in the parliament and defend our land –Crimea.

Of course, I love Azerbaijan. It is my father`s motherland. Baku is a beautiful city. It looks like Dubai for its beautiful buildings.

- Do you have friends in Azerbaijan?

-Of course, I have many friends in Azerbaijan. Some of them are MPs. The head of Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, MP Samad Seyidov, former MP Aydin Abbasov and Sabir Hajiyev are my friends. I have close contacts with members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Ukraine. In this regard, I must say, Azerbaijan is always in my heart.

- Being elected as a PACE Vice-President is a great success. What are your main plans and targets?

- As you know, I was elected as the Vice-President of the Assembly on Monday. On Wednesday, I was elected as the Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Crime Problems and the Fight against Terrorism. These positions are very important, as you know. I support the peace around the world. The occupied territories should be immediately liberated. We should provide the welfare of the people of the country we live in and make them happy. Citizens should be well-educated, they have to know their rights and protect them. I will do my best to make happen these all.

- What about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict? What efforts are you going to make towards the resolution of the conflict?

- First of all, I want to talk about the accident happened the day before yesterday. The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Ariyev presented a report on `Attacks against journalists and media freedom in Europe`. In his report, Nagorno-Karabakh was mentioned as part of Azerbaijan. The Armenian delegation to the PACE tried to show Nagorno-Karabakh as an `independent republic`. However, they have failed. In the final version of the report, the Nagorno-Karabakh was mentioned as an integral part of Azerbaijan. As a whole, we should discuss and find a solution to the problem. No doubt Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan.

- Do you plan to visit the conflict regions?

- I am not sure if I will visit the Nagorno-Karabakh region, but I will visit Azerbaijan this year.
