Shahdeniz 2 attaches principal importance for Georgia - Deputy Minister
In the next years, the main factor for development of Georgia’s energy sector will be launch of Shahdeniz 2 and construction of gas storehouse, Mariam Valishvili, Georgia`s deputy energy minister.
“We have 10-year plan for development of infrastructure in connection with increase of the demand. Construction of new gas storehouse is important. This will lead to elimination of daily and seasonal imbalance According to the contract signed within Shahdeniz consortium, we’ll lose the gas that we cannot consume. At the same time, we don’t have a re-export opportunity. In the summer, the demand for gas decreases and we can pump this gas in the storehouse. This infrastructure is covered by full dispatching. Shahdeniz 2 attaches principal importance for Georgia. We are pleased that the project is being implemented on the schedule. As you know, the World Bank has allocated $400 million for SOCAR and this fund will be directed to TANAP. Major part of the TANAP has been completed in Georgia. And we surely can say the there will be no delay. I think it’s possible to hope for getting additional gas from Shahdeniz 2 since 2020”, the deputy minister said.
